Free spay neuter for cats

Throughout the month of May, LA Animal Services will be offering Free Cat Spay/Neuter Certificates to all LA City residents, regardless of income levels, to make it easier for the Los Angeles community to get their cats and kittens spayed or neutered. The Department of Animal Services is historically inundated with 8,000 to 9,000 cats and kittens every year often starting in April-May. This year, LA Animal Services is already starting to see an increase in cat and kitten impounds City wide, and the Department is anticipating a constant influx.

From May 1 to May 31, 2018, all residents of the City of Los Angeles will be eligible for a Free Certificate for use at a participating veterinary hospital with LA Animal Services. By taking advantage of Free Spay/Neuter Certificates for cats and kittens, the community will help tremendously stem the tide of pet overpopulation that LA Animal Services faces daily in each of the six services centers.

To apply and receive a Free Certificate the same day, please visit your nearest LA City Animal Services Center. To locate your nearest services center, check out: http://bit.ly/LAASlocator. LA City Residents can now also apply for a Free Certificate online at www.LASPAYNEUTER.com.

This program is available for residents of the City of Los Angeles who are 18 years of age or older. Each household is eligible for Free Certificates for up to 3 cats. Free spay or neuter surgeries are for companion cats only, all feral and stray animals are excluded. Once a Free Certificate is received, it must be redeemed at a participating veterinary hospital within 10 days of issuance.

By spaying or neutering your cat or kitten, you are helping LA Animal Services get one step closer to ending the Los Angeles community’s pet overpopulation and helps LA Animal Services place more animals in permanent homes.
