This year’s Colfax World Fair was an unequivocal success! Held on Saturday, June 4th, this is the biggest annual fundraiser for Colfax Charter Elementary School and it has become a tremendous community event for Valley Village.

An estimated 7,000 guests enjoyed this old time fair!  Besides Colfax families and friends, other volunteers included members of the Toluca Lake Lions Club, Neighborhood Council Valley Village, Valley Village Homeowners Association and a large number of middle and high school volunteers - in particular a huge representation from the Colfax alumni who currently attend Walter Reed Middle School.

The fair grossed over $140,000, expenses were down significantly, ticket sales were up over $13,000, and silent auction was also up from last year’s total. There was a enormous effort to emphasize the green aspect that is part of Colfax’s charter which included plenty of recycling, supplies made from recycled products, and an entire “green” area where guests could plant seedlings or silkscreen their t-shirts which were made from organically-grown products.

Plans are already in the works for the 2012 Colfax  World Fair, which will take place Saturday, June 2nd.
