SEWER SERVICE CHARGE INCREASE

Dec 08, 2011

Customers who use sewer services provided by the City of Los Angeles will soon receive notice of a proposed rate increase in the Sewer Service Charge (SSC).  This proposed rate increase applies to more than 4 million residential, commercial and industrial customers.  Los Angeles has more than 6,700 miles of sewers, 44 pumping plants, four wastewater and reclamation plans and collectively process more than 550 million gallons of “flow” each day.  The fee that supports this effort appears on your LADWP bill under the heading “Sanitation Charges.”

The current SSC rate is $3.27 per Hundred Cubic Feet which equates to approximately $30 per month for a typical single family home.  If approved by the City Council, the new rate will go into effect March 1, 2012.

A public hearing on this proposal is scheduled for January 27 at 10:00 am, in Council Chambers, City Hall in downtown Los Angeles.  For more information on the proposed increase and how it may affect your family, visit www.LASewers.org.
