NoHo Park Restroom

NORTH HOLLYWOOD – Councilmember Krekorian and the Department of Recreation and Parks unveiled the first self-cleaning restroom in the city’s park system in North Hollywood. Located at the North Hollywood Park Recreation Center, the pilot model of the self-cleaning restroom will help the department determine the best innovative and efficient way to improve visitors’ experience throughout the LA City parks.

The new restroom has a unique, contemporary design, is ADA compliant, and is programmed to clean itself after a set number of uses. It’s equipped with self-timer technology which audibly alerts users if they have exceeded the time allotted for occupancy.

“Angelenos make an estimated 660,000 weekly visits to neighborhood and community parks across the city, spending nearly 1.1 million hours a week enjoying the various facilities and park programs that the city offers, which makes restroom maintenance across LA City parks an extremely important daily task for the Department’s dedicated park staff,” said Councilmember Krekorian. “This state-of-the-art restroom, first in the city’s park system, brings us the ability to provide basic bathroom facilities for all park users, ensures a dramatic reduction in maintenance costs for our park department, reduces the burden on the men and women who work daily to upkeep our parks, and provides a better experience for all park goers.”

Department of Recreation and Parks maintenance staff will inspect the restroom daily to ensure it is properly functioning, and clean and replenish dispensers. In addition to the self-cleaning restroom, three new hydration stations were installed at the recreation facility to provide Angelenos with greater accessibility to clean drinking water.
