Hundreds of Valley Village families marked the July 4th holiday a little differently this year. One of the city’s oldest and most treasured traditions, the annual Independence Day parade sponsored by the Valley Village Homeowners Association, was changed to ensure health and safety of those who would participate. This year the organization welcomed decorated cars and trucks to drive by Valley Village park and drop off food to support the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry.

Joining over 100 masked volunteers collecting and sorting donated food at the event were Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian, State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, Los Angeles City Controller Ron Galperin, and United States Congressman Brad Sherman.

The Grand Marshalls for the 2020 July 4th parade were NCVV student Board members Jake Kovinsky and Eileen Garcia, who both complete their Board service this summer as they begin college in the fall. On behalf of the NCVV Board of Directors, President Tony Braswell presented proclamations to the students declaring July 4, 2020 as Eileen Garcia Day and Jake Kovinsky Day in Valley Village.
