The City of Los Angeles manages growth and development in neighborhoods through a collection of 35 Community Plans. These plans, which collectively make up the City’s General Plan, are legally required to be reviewed and updated every 10 years. Unfortunately many have not been revisited in over 30 years, including ours.
Development in Valley Village is governed by the North Hollywood – Valley Village Community Plan. In October 2018 we began a three-year review of Valley Village and North Hollywood that will update/set standards for what can be built, where and how it can be built, and other variables such as green space, height, density, transportation and more.
Why do I need to know this?
While the General Plan sets out a long-range vision and guide to future development, the 35 Community Plans provide the specific, neighborhood-level detail, relevant policies, and implementation strategies necessary to achieve the General Plan objectives.
What are our priorities?
At the September 2018 meeting of NCVV’s Board the priorities for our revised community plan were approved. These priorities are designed to ensure our continued quality of life, protect the character of Valley Village, and plan for responsible growth over the next ten years and more.
