Senate Bill 827, authored by State Senator Scott Wiener, will remove all local planning at the city level and allow the state to dictate how high you can build in Valley Village. Our Community is fortunate to have a Specific Plan that works to keep height and density in check. This bill, written with heavy input from San Francisco developers and supported by Sacramento lawmakers, would take away all say that the City of Los Angeles and our community has in planning decisions.
Your NCVV Board voted unanimously to oppose this bill. At this time we have been notified that our State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian will oppose SB827. We are hopeful that our Senator Bob Hertzberg will also oppose SB827.
On March 25 the Coalition to Preserve LA is hosting several workshops on this and other proposed state laws that will destroy the quality of life in Valley Village. The workshops will explore these legislative efforts and advise how you can be involved to help protect the character of our community.
