Since the first Neighborhood Council Valley Village (NCVV) Board was elected in 2004, over 50 of your neighbors have served on our Board, protecting quality of life that makes Valley Village special and fighting to preserve the character that makes our community so attractive to families and businesses.

This year our 15 Board members, Student Representative and more than 20 volunteer Board committee members have invested thousands of hours on planning and land use matters, quality of life issues like traffic and city services, and outreach events that celebrate our neighborhood. This hard work has produced great benefit for every stakeholder in Valley Village, including:

  • Upgrade of our web presence and communication plan to expand our social media presence and improve your ability to interact with NCVV’s Board and LA City Departments
  • Four Town Hall forums held specifically for Valley Village stakeholders, including public meetings with Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Neighborhood Prosecutor Diego Edber and top executives from the Department of Water and Power
  • Approval of long awaited soundwalls along 170 freeway
  • Over 130 trees planted, cared for by over 80 Valley Village business partners
  • Events that brought our community together including National Night Out, Light Up Valley Village, and Halloween Happenings
  • Financial support for our schools, and for community partners like Valley Village Homeowners Association July 4th Parade and our North Hollywood Police Department
  • Zealous protection of the Valley Village Specific Plan including decisions on over 30 project proposals for development in our community
  • Almost 10% of Valley Village streets were repaved and more than 30 potholes were filled
  • Production of a master landscape plan to develop park space along the Valley Village side of the Tujunga Wash
  • Implementation of an emergency communication system to support Valley Village residents in the event of a natural or human caused disaster

These are just a few examples of the outstanding work your Board is doing on behalf of our 25,000 stakeholders. I am profoundly grateful to our Board members, all of our great NCVV Committee members, and the hundreds of volunteers who helped make this work possible.

This is an exciting time of growth in Valley Village. It is important that we continue our effort to protect the character that makes our area so desirable. Early next year we will hold our NCVV Board election. Seven seats are eligible for election this year including homeowners (2), residential renters (2), a business person, an education representative and an at large seat (non-affiliated). NCVV continues to be recognized as one of the best of the 96 Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils. If you’d like to be part of this work as a Board member, or join one of our Committees, call our Election Chair Ginny Hatfield today – 818-970-4577.

On behalf of our entire NCVV Board, best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.
