Our 2019 Earth Day event in Valley Village Park was a great success today, collecting over 200 pounds of batteries, several boxes of light bulbs and shredding over 5 tons of paper. The line of cars was steady from 8 am until noon, and the shredding company brought in a second truck at the very end to be sure that all of the collected paper was properly destroyed.
Ginny did another masterful job coordinating the event. A very big thanks to Dorothy and her two helpers, Daryl, Alice, Paulette, Jake, and Suzanne. We also had great help from Michael Gregory, Rodney Burgoyne, Melinda Porter, and Board candidates Desmond Faison and Eric Andres. Also a big thanks to The Bureau of Parks and our friends in CD2 for their assistance. And to Pastor Rich who was at the church to be sure we could get everything back into storage after the event.
It was a very successful day and I am grateful for everyone who helped us throughout the event.
