Over 200 people joined together on Saturday October 21 at the Valley Village Farmer’s Market to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Neighborhood Council Valley Village. Past and present NCVV Board members, NCVV volunteers and other neighbors joined elected officials including City Council President and CD2 Councilman Paul Krekorian, former State Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian, General Manager Vanessa Serrano and NEA Mario Hernandez from the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment, State Senator Caroline Menjivar, and representatives of other elected officials including Mayor Karen Bass, United States Congressman Tony Cardenes, LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, State Assembly Member Laura Friedman and LAUSD Board Member Scott Schmerelson. Among those honored at the celebration were Peter Sanchez and Breice Reiner, the first elected President and Vice President of NCVV (2003).
“Neighborhoods thrive with strong leadership and active Neighborhood Councils” said Council President Paul Krekorian. “Everyone who lives or works in Valley Village should be proud of the outstanding work this Neighborhood Council continues to accomplish to make this community a great place to call home.” Tony Braswell, NCVV’s current President added “I am extremely proud of the ongoing effort of our NCVV Board, Board committees, volunteers and elected officials to ensure that Valley Village remains one of LA’s most sought after neighborhoods.” After a concert performance by the North Hollywood School Jazz Band and multiple presentations of proclamations from elected officials, participants enjoyed burgers from Valley Village Fatburger along with a special 20th anniversary cake.
