Valley Village School Updates
Big changes are happening in our largest Valley Village schools. On May 9 the LAUSD Board held a public hearing regarding proposed renovations to Colfax Charter Elementary School, approving the plans that will add much needed classroom space and improve the safety of student drop off and pick up.
Earth Day in Valley Village
NCVV’s Board sponsored and participated in several Earth Day 2017 activities, culminating with an all-day shredding event at Valley Village Park on April 22.
Shopping Center Ground Breaking
On Wednesday April 5, a special public ceremony marked the ground breaking of NoHo West, the mixed use development that will bring much needed shopping, dining and residential opportunities to the former site of Macy’s, on Laurel Canyon Boulevard at Oxnard.
North Hollywood High School Takes National Title
Once again North Hollywood High demonstrated academic excellence as the school’s Team Togo took top spot at the country’s premier cybersecurity championship.
Bounce Houses and Generators are Banned in Valley Village Park
The City of Los Angeles has long maintained a ban on inflatable “bounce” structures and the use of outdoor generators in Valley Village Park. At the February meeting of NCVV’s Board of Directors, the Board asked the Bureau of Parks to step up enforcement of the ban.
Los Angeles World Airport Modernization Proposed
Officials from Los Angeles World Airport (LAX) joined the February meeting of NCVV’s Board with a presentation of plans to modernize the airport terminals, runways and all pedestrian and vehicular access points. The Board voted to support the project.
