Saturday, June 7, 2024 was a very special day in Valley Village with two events that brought many neighbors together to meet with LAPD and also to celebrate Pride month. NCVV’s Board and our Events and Outreach Committee sponsored the popular Coffee With A Cop event at the Valley Village farmer’s market, which is held each Saturday in the parking lot at Faith Presbyterian Church. Valley Village Senior Lead Officer Rob Benevidez and fellow Senior Lead Gabe Ahedo shared coffee and pastries with residents and heard their thoughts and concerns about public safety and crime. Joining the event were Faith Presbyterian Senior Pastor Rich Poole, Council District 2 Field Deputy Jeff Camp, State Assemblymember Laura Friedman’s Field Deputy Diane Rana, and LA City Council candidate Adrin Nazarian.
At the same time more than 100 celebrated Pride month in Valley Village with the 3rd annual Valley Village Love Is Love Pride parade. Participants met at Valley Village park, decorated signs and banners and then marched in a parade around Valley Village. Funds raised from the event benefited the Trevor Project, an organization dedicated to helping LGBTQ+ young people in crisis.
