URGENT AND TIME SENSITIVE MESSAGE FROM
NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL VALLEY VILLAGE
AND VALLEY VILLAGE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
Refunds available for Valley Village Homeowners Who Were Charged Permit Fees for Remodel Projects (Refund Deadline is April 1, 2021).
If you are a homeowner and you remodeled or added onto your home between January 1, 2016 and March 1, 2019, you may be eligible for a refund of fees paid to the Planning Department. Many projects that were submitted for approval during this time were improperly charged for Project Compliance Review fees which added as much as $4,000 to $10,000 to the project. After more than two years of work by VVRA and NCVV to stop the fees and ask that they be refunded, Councilman Krekorian and the Department of City Planning directed that collection of these fees be stopped in March 2019.
The City of Los Angeles recently announced that the City will accept requests for refunds of the fee for eligible Valley Village Homeowners. Attached are copies of the City Council letter & Department of City Planning’s letter. But you must act quickly, the deadline to apply for a refund is April 1, 2021.
If you believe you were improperly charged these fees, you should apply for a refund at: planning4la.org/odoc/under-5000 (for fees paid under $5,000) or planning4la.org/odoc/over-5000 (for fees paid over $5,000). URGENT – PLEASE NOTE THE REFUND APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2021.
