Big changes are happening in our largest Valley Village schools. On May 9 the LAUSD Board held a public hearing regarding proposed renovations to Colfax Charter Elementary School, approving the plans that will add much needed classroom space and improve the safety of student drop off and pick up. Board member Lisa Miller represented NCVV at the meeting, the final determination from the Board should come in June or July.
North Hollywood High has proposed changes to their campus that will modernize the highly acclaimed school. Preliminary meetings are happening now and the public is encouraged to attend. The next meeting is May 18, at 6:00 pm in the school auditorium.
Valley Torah School has opened a new recreational area for their students on the Chandler Boulevard campus. The multi-purpose track and field space was planned with input from the community and will be a great addition for the students.
And the first phase of updates to Oakwood School has now been completed. The signature bridge crossing Magnolia Boulevard and connecting the north and south sides of the campus was opened in a large public celebration in March. Designed by world renowned architect Brenda Levin, the bridge has become an instant signature site in the Valley Village community.
