On Saturday, April 20, a record number of Valley Village residents and others from across the southeast San Fernando Valley turned out to celebrate Earth Day by shredding documents and saving them from heading to a landfill. Over 135 bins of documents, papers, newsprint, receipts and more were collected, the most ever in the history of this event. In addition, food donations were collected for the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry, completely filling one of the organization’s trucks.
NCVV Events and Outreach Co-Chairs Suzanne Lewis and Maribel Ulloa-Garcia noted the longstanding commitment of Valley Village residents and businesses to protecting the environment and helping those in need. “It really does take a Village” they said as the successful event concluded. Joining Lewis and Ulloa-Garcia to staff the event were members of the NCVV Board, former Board members, longtime NCVV volunteers, representatives of the office of City Council President Paul Krekorian, LADWP, the Los Angeles CERT program, and representatives from NHIFP.
