The interests of Valley Village residents and businesses were well represented at the January 15 Burbank Airport Noise Task Force. This was the fourth in a series of meetings to discuss concerns about the impact of increased air traffic from Burbank airport as well as implementation of a coordinated satellite based air traffic control system in southern California. To date much of the feedback has been from residents south of 101 freeway who claim multiple negative impacts from overhead aircraft, including too much noise, poor air quality and increased safety risks. Groups representing these residents have asked that more take-off traffic be directed over communities like Valley Village and North Hollywood and away from their homes.
Led by Valley Village Homeowners Association, a formal presentation to the Task Force made the strong case for “the reasonability and equity of sharing in air traffic noise.” Many members of the audience from Valley Village and adjacent neighborhoods supported the idea that Burbank Hollywood Airport is a convenient aviation option for us and any inconveniences such as traffic and noise should be shared equally around the southeast San Fernando Valley.
In 2018 your NCVV Board adopted a formal position on this matter and has recently re-affirmed this position. We do not believe that redirecting traffic over our Valley Village homes and businesses is in best interest of our stakeholders, and wholeheartedly support the work of VVHA. It is important that you express your opinion so that we continue to enjoy our quality of life in Valley Village.
